We are settling into our new home and loving it!
This last Wednesday we had our things moved and it all went very well.
As we headed over to our new home I was anxious as ever to see it for the first time.
Yes you read that right, we signed a lease before seeing our new home.

I did stare at pictures and the layout for awhile but the base housing office didn’t have an available home to walk through.
My husband, the movers, housing manager, and I walked through the home together for the first time.
We celebrated over the dishwasher and spacious rooms and questioned how I would manage to fit our things in but we’ll get to that later!
We’re here and God has been faithful to plant our family exactly where He wanted us to be. That feels beyond good.
I didn’t have access to the internet this last week and so I would wake up read my bible, pray, and continue to unpack then in the afternoons i’d sit down and read a chapter out of a book i’m working through. It was peaceful, like REALLY peaceful for this internet addict.
I realized that part of the change i’d talked about before means limiting the time spent on here. Which is difficult but I know how important it is to guard the heart.
It has to be a balance and i’ve asked God to show me where to draw the line with time spent on the internet.

Alright have you ever gone shopping with a friend and they pulled something off the rack and lifted it for you to see. You thought it was okay but never something you would wear? Then she nudges you to try it on and so you do and it actually looks great?!
That is what this house has been.
When I first saw the pictures I thought, okay this is nice but not really my style.
The thing is when you have less than two weeks to find a place to live, your preferences go out the window and you accept the blessing of at least having a roof over your head.
When we signed this lease I told God I was putting on the shirt that I didn’t think would look good but the last few days i’ve been soaking up how great this home is!
We are almost done unpacking the boxes and this view makes me happy to be coming to an end of the mess!

I’m not quite finished in here but this is a sneak peek for you.
I really love the layout, wood ceilings in the rooms. (The other rooms have a dark cherry wood ceiling)
The way the sun shines through these windows is glorious! It’s a perfect start to the day and I enjoy having quiet time at the table.
We have a nice fenced in backyard that is a great space and Garrett is enjoying it already! He also loves the planes and helicopters that take off from the base.

It’s been one twist after another the last few months but we’re together in a beautiful new home and i’m really happy.
Can’t wait to share more pictures in the coming weeks!

First off, WOW! Garrett is getting really tall fast, isn’t he! What a sprout! LOL!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your kitchen! Great open space, room to work, STORAGE — and that favorite thing of yours: a dishwasher! You photographed the lighting perfectly in there, too…and you are absolutely right — a beautiful space, indeed. Doesn’t get better than that, does it!
My apartment here in S. Bend has many nice things I like about it. First, we are on the top floor (3rd) which means nobody stomping around overhead, and we get the benefit of radiant heat from below, AND I get a little leggy exercise up and down the stairs every day. We have a washer and dryer included with the unit, and they are located between both bedrooms. Kim and I have bedrooms at opposite ends of the apartment, which is nice for the quiet and the privacy. The best part, though, is that we can take showers in our respective bathrooms at the same time and not get either frozen or poached!
They could have done a much better job of setting in the windows, though. Or, at the very least, come in once a year and re-do the seals so frigid air doesn’t drop temperatures by 20degrees when the wind blows…. Other than that and the fact we don’t have to shovel snow or mow grass — apartment living is pretty darned nice these days. LOL!
How cool is it, though, that Garrett gets to watch planes and helicopters coming and going! Every boy’s dream, yes? Well, lots of girls’ dreams, too! When my husband and I lived in Ft. Worth, we lived in the approach and take-off line for the then Carswell AFB. I could sit in the back yard and just enjoy the view in the evening. I’m sure Garrett will start identifying the aircraft by their sounds soon…what fun for him! (Be sure to teach him to say “heck-a-whopter” when he can’t say “helicopter.” It’s WAY more fun to watch people’s faces!)

I hope you have many wonderful memories there. We have loved living on base here for the past 3 years. 
I am really enjoying base living and this home is perfect for us. Again, thanks for writing about the base housing because it nudged us to look into it.
Your new home is lovely! Even though we are not military, I am basically doing the same thing. Renting a home I have never seen. We have to move because our house is being sold so we were told about this home that is being remodeled and we snatched it up — so I am trusting God that it is everything we need it to be
