Afternoon coffee with me?
Both my husband and son are home and each asleep! With this quiet time I decided to take some time to chat with you.
This morning a man came over to take note of how much the moving company will have to pack and put into the truck. This move finally hit me as he scribbled down notes and asked if this or that would go. I’m ready but also unsure in stepping forward.
Why?
We don’t have a home to move into yet.
Do I believe God will provide? Absolutely. But from where I stand there is no clear direction.
We are faced with sketchy neighborhoods where break-ins are frequent, or sky-rocket home prices that we can’t afford from both rental and homes for sale. There is not a lot to choose from unfortunately.
We will be vacationing for a few weeks with family and we have plenty of options to stay with someone while we search, thankfully! See, God is already providing!
I have browsed houses for weeks looking for the perfect home. This last weekend I had a few thoughts come to mind though. What if God provides a home with ugly kitchen cabinets for the sake of being able to give to others if a needs arises? It sat with me for days until finally I could say, Then let it be so!
As much as I want a beautiful home, I want more to honor God with our money and be a blessing to others.
What about you? Have you been walking through uncertainty as well? If so, you are in good company here.
I wish that I could tell you a story of how great my faith is because seriously, the Lord provided this home 5 months ago when my husband’s deployment was cancelled and our move came to an abrupt end with no home in sight. I guess for me i’m reminding myself to focus on a God who is working a thousand things together that I can’t understand.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding
I want to believe God has plans for our family at this next duty station. It’s my continued prayer that He would use us to share the gospel which always brings hope because of Jesus.
I hope that will come across in our lives even as we stumble in relationships, with sin, and try to understand God plans for us. I’m grateful for His grace today! That He has given me room to come to Him and confess nerves and admit I have to use special deodorant for stress sweat and i’m super sorry about that because i’m trying to be better about not worrying!
(This deodorant works wonders my friends!)
Until next time,
Laura

Once, when we were living in a REALLY decent house with plenty of space, it was in a perfect location for countless reasons, and the neighborhood was just about as perfect as it could be, my finances simply couldn’t keep up with the costs. We. Got. Evicted. With no prospects in sight, we were to rely on friends for a little over a year, until a house became available that was in my price range. Nothing was as humbling (I almost wrote “humiliating” until it pinched…I realize that I was not humiliated, just truly humbled) as discovering I could not find a safe and even modestly decent house for me and my two kids. It took a year. And then, the house we ended up with was nearly half the size we had before, but was big enough.
God has always provide for us. We just don’t usually get to know those provisions until we Fully Rely On God. Took me a few times to get that, but I get it now. And lemme tell ya, finances aren’t always great – I have more work to do with that – and things still are difficult. But we always have what we need WHEN we need it. And by “we” I mean ALL of us. Always. God never leaves us hanging. He just encourages us to trust him.
In the meantime, more deodorant… 😉
Laura, When your grandpa and I were first married we lived in his grandmothers house. It was large but the upstairs was used for storing stuff from the farm. No running water, no bath room, can’t remember if there was electricty or not and no bath room. We had a path but love grew in that house and I have fond memories. A home is only as beautiful as our love can make it. God is good and knows what you need. You have the personality to make it very welcoming.
I know that as a woman, wife, and mother, being settled is such a desire of our hearts. I know that you have such a great perspective, but I will also be praying for the perfect timing and plan to play out in the next steps for you guys. Thank you for sharing your heart and being vulnerable! God is using it!

I really enjoyed reading your post. I can relate. I’ve been preparing for a PCS move as well. It has been hard for me to remember that I don’t need to be in control of every aspect of the move. I have to remind myself that God is in control.
I also enjoyed reading it because as a blogger, I’ve been trying to figure out how to discuss certain aspects of my life as a military spouse without giving too much information. After reading your post, I can understand how this is possible.
I pray that God continues to give you peace as you transition.
