I hope it’s a sunny morning near you!

When I opened my eyes the sun was shining through the window and it was a beautiful thing to open eyes to! After pulling all the blinds up the clouds rolled in. I had to smile about that!

This morning I wanted to share with you a couple of organizing projects. While they aren’t exactly a how-to, I still thought it would be fun to share.

In the fall we moved into military base housing and have really enjoyed making this place our own. 

Some areas like the laundry room, closets, and other hidden areas looked the same as when I first unloaded boxes but this has been a perfect time to fix those spaces up.

I started with the bedroom closet this last Wednesday.

What a mess!

I gathered a couple of bags and started sorting through clothes, shoes, and purses.

Knowing it is neat behind that door let me sleep better last night!

I love the finished result! I ended up cleaning out the entire room and dressers too.

There was a space behind our bedroom door that collected items since we first moved in. Even though it was easily hidden it stressed me out knowing it was back there.

Our room is peaceful again.

I would like to add two or three canvas pictures above our bed but we’ll see if that works out!

After that project was complete I moved to Garrett’s room.

Even though we clean it every night the toys don’t always fit neatly.  It would look neat but I knew what was behind the closet door and how unorganized it was.

I put together two boxes and labeled them baby items and also filled a Tupperware with all his clothes that no longer fit.

There were baby toys that he no longer touches so in the box they went.

*This before picture is not the normal everyday look. We had a birthday party here.  A few little helpers cleaned but I told them not to worry about it.  I planned to clean the rest the next day. The next day turned into a few days later!

I turned around after seeing this and headed to the kitchen for this…

Much better!

I grabbed his ‘SOAR’ letters and put them back up for the hundredth time and decided they need to be hung by a nail instead.

I am not completely done with his closet but it looks better! I have to organize books from the closet and on the black shelf in the below picture. But it’s coming along!

I’ve started collecting ideas for bedding but am not sure yet what we’ll choose to do.

Also, I ended up clearing out a huge chunk in Garrett’s closet and put some toys away to rotate. A few people mentioned doing this and I loved the idea.

We’re working on making his bed each morning and making sure he puts toys away when he is finished playing.

One of the areas I’ve been avoiding was the laundry room because I didn’t really know what to do with it.

I went to The Dollar Store and picked up $1 baskets the other week and then shopped around our home. I moved the coolers to the garage shelves and sorted through everything else.
{The step-ladder doesn’t always lean there but I was using it to reach the top shelf.}

 

I think it turned out pretty nice. When I’m done with a few other projects I plan to make tags for the baskets.

This area doesn’t always look this way but for the last two months it has been the area I toss extra items I don’t have a place for.

I am loving this little calendar I found while organizing a stack of things behind our bedroom door!

I must have peeked into this area a dozen times last night because I was just thrilled with the difference.

I’ve put aside from my mind many Pinterest images that I’d love to duplicate.

There is a verse that I committed to memory for moments my heart longs for what we don’t have.

I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
Philippians 4:11

There may not be much room in your budget for decorations or fancy baskets to organize with, but there are ways to straighten-up a home on a budget. Homemaking is a skill learned over time and it’s discovering what works or doesn’t work.
