I was trying to remember when I started to really enjoy coffee and I’ve maybe figured it out!
When my husband enlisted in the Navy he was away for a few months, at basic training, and then he was flown right out to Maryland. Since his brother’s family lived very close they invited me to stay with them. I was there for about a month and it was such a special time! I got to know one of my dearest friends (My sister-in-law Ej) and spend a lot of time with my two adorable nieces.
God really blessed us through our time spent with their family. I cried really hard when we both moved away because I knew it wouldn’t be likely that we’d see a lot of them. Thankfully we still chat quite a bit and have stayed close.
My nieces are the sweetest little girls and even though we can’t see each other often I just love them to pieces! (Here we are baking and we put two of Darren’s shirts on them to keep their clothes from getting messy. Too cute!)

Thanks to their family we saw a lot of the city! I loved going to the national mall and seeing the famous monuments and memorials.
She is so fun and also an amazing example of the kind of military spouse I want to be. She wrote to me, sent me care packages, and called often to check-in while Darren was deployed. Can’t explain what that meant to me!
This is a picture of a time we visited them while I was pregnant with Garrett and look how cool my brother-in-law is! He also was the one that made a lot of the coffee and had it set out for us girls in the morning. I have him to thank also!
I’m glad we were able to spend time with the girls because I absolutely loved it. It’s hard to watch them grow up through a computer screen but it’s always great when we do see them. We’re trying to plan a trip this year and I’m praying it will all work out. It has been a year since we saw each other! That is just too long.

Alright back to coffee…There was a lot of coffee involved during my month long stay and I’m pretty sure that’s when all this love for coffee began! So thank you Ej and Dave!
I could drink it every single day. (Normally do!)
I have limited the coffee creamer intake, which to someone else wouldn’t seem like limiting at all! There are just too many delicious flavors to try.
It’s fun to try new drinks and a friend from Virginia started me on White Chocolate Mochas. To die for!
It’s not often that I buy coffee so when I do it’s a special treat. I don’t want to know the amount of calories in those things! I do really like a latte though and those are a lot lighter than a mocha.
I started to notice early last year that all the coffee was turning my teeth a shade of yellow that was not very flattering. I actually ordered Crest white-strips with a coupon and it worked wonders! I only do this once every 6 months but I’m loving it.
At first they can be painful on the teeth and gums but it was worth it to me. (Not paid to advertise these but am sharing what works for me!)

During the week my wonderful man makes the coffee and I wake up to that glorious smell of fresh brewed coffee. For Christmas Darren was given a new coffee maker from his mom and dad and we’re both loving it!
Whenever I meet someone who likes coffee, immediately I believe we will be good friends. It turns out to be true 80% of the time!
We’re still looking for a local coffee shop and I have big dreams of sitting in a café while writing a book!
I realize this is unlikely and at this point i’m willing to settle with sitting alone with a delicious cup of coffee in hand!
