To Be Honest..

“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17

To be honest I still want him to walk through the door.  :  )
This morning I woke up to a really sweet email and was reassured that God’s plan through deployment isn’t to drain our marriage but to grow us closer.  Which I find odd since we won’t be seeing much of one another.  But like the last deployment I saw my husband through a new pair of eyes and sometimes in marriage you need that.  We drift apart at times and there’s nothing that teaches appreciate for your husband like having him yanked away from you for the coming year.

I was browsing through some deployment articles and by the time I picked myself up from the couch I was full to the brim with hope.  I won’t pretend to know what is mapped out for our family this year but I’m confident that he intended me to move through this time with hope found only in Him.
I don’t want to put life on hold and look back on these days and see that I spent them depressed or feeling sorry for myself. I’m excited to spend time with family and friends and we’ll make the most of it.

For the last two years I pushed away anything related to deployment because i didn’t want my heart to be tugged at.  Deployments are very difficult for everyone involved.
I find myself waist deep in another one though and after spending the last two weeks in a funk I am finally at the point of picking myself up and carrying on.  The first and last two weeks are always difficult for me and from what i’m told others as well.  For now i’m experiencing some serious peace and I know that comes from the Lord.

As long as we’re being honest, I sure do miss him already!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Laura, I’m so glad you are getting to a point of peace with this deployment. Thank you so much for your sacrifice for our country, and please pass on my heartfelt appreciation to your husband for his service and honor. Also, please give your little boy a big hug from a Marine Mom who can only imagine how much he misses his daddy. I’m not sure if you remember me telling you about my new daughter-in-law, Taylor. Se will be joining my son in California soon, after graduating from school. They will begin their military marriage life together. I have shared your posts with her many times. She always appreciates them. Please enjoy your time with your familiy and friends. I never imagined I would miss my son and new daughter this much. I’m sure your parents and other family feel the same about you and are thrilled to have you home. God bless you and your sweet family and may His Holy Spirit fill you will strength and hope for all the days to come. Blesssing, Julie
