An Unexpected Break

Unexpected Break

Staying home with Garrett day after day can be exhausting.

As much as I love him, it doesn’t change that caring for someone 24/7 – week after week – is exhausting.

Having time for yourself is really important but it can be hard to carve out that time.

This last month I was telling Darren how tired I am.  That’s why I was so excited when Darren told me he won a contest put on by the USO in our state.  It was for one night at a Resort and Spa.

Something a little extra happened though.

Last weekend we headed over to Darren’s parents home to visit with his parents. After having a really great time with them, they asked if Garrett would be able to stay all week at their house.

We were going to see them again the following weekend since they offered to watch Garrett for us during our night away. They are pretty great!

I haven’t spent much time away from Garrett and it was hard to leave but it’s good for both of us.

This week I have filled the time with all the things I love but am sometimes too tired to make time for or just unable to.

I even went to see, ‘Frozen’ and it was adorable! I have all those songs stuck in my head now.

I’ve gone to the local antique mall and watched a couple t.v. shows and of course slept in a little!

This has been a re-fueling kind of week and I’ve appreciated my mother-in-law and father-in-law helping us out this week. That was really nice because I know caring for a child can be tiring. I certainly don’t take this for granted!

It sounds like they have enjoyed their time together.  I am looking forward to seeing my little man again but for two more days I’m going to lean into this week of rest a bit more. : )

Hope you’re having a great day!

Until next time,
