Lets talk about Comfort,

I won’t be able to pinpoint what comforts you so think about it for a moment..
What calms you down?

Do you hate being uncomfortable?
{I sure do}

Something seems off because if you follow the rules of christianity doesn’t that mean it will all be good?
Not exactly..

I’m embracing the weird in me.
The deep thinker, the girl who loves cold weather, taking a walk, and talking for hours with a friend, and the way too sensitive girl that I am!
I’m accepting that this world is full of nutty people searching too for contentment, even between the church walls.
We weren’t made for this world..
full of evil.

And we weren’t commanded to ignore it either.
Which seems to be a problem among plenty of us.
We are trying to ignore the discomfort of real hurting people, sin, and tragedy.
Anything that brings us discomfort we want to move on from as fast as possible.
But the problem is, turning off the news doesn’t make things disappear, only glancing at a picture of a starving child doesn’t feed them.
There is a promise of peace in the midst of this awful world.
(And that’s Jesus in us)

I’m stepping on toes..i know.
But let me explain why.

When I was in highschool I used to invite that one lonely girl who sat by herself to be in a group full of conversation and laughter.
It pained me to see the occasional girl sitting alone.
I couldn’t eat my lunch and chat with friends with her in the corner of my eye.. I could see and feel that pain.

As I grow up this world has calloused the heart and made it hard.
Why wouldn’t it though?

Places that used to be safe aren’t, and people I used to trust grew to be different people.
Friends sit on your couch and tell you they’re divorcing their husbands for some other guy and that God is fine with it.
It’s politically incorrect to say ANYTHING about God these days
Common sense is out the door and everyone decides truth for themselves
This verse has truth behind it..

2 Corinthians 4:4

So sometimes its tempting to go into my home..and stay there.  Glam it up with the latest thrift store finds, to stop sharing my story on this blog, ignore the news and pain of this world, and dream of vacations and a bright future.
But I never want to be the girl who stops seeing out of the corner of my eye a person in pain.
It’s not my burden to carry and let it depress me, but it is my place to be sharing God’s word and this light that brightens up a dark place.
Many of you reading this know the truth of the gospel that sets a person free.
Yet we try to stay away and live out ‘christian rituals’ like praying at dinner, tithing, being in church, reading our bibles, going to retreats, and pretending to have it all together.
I am not perfect and really do struggle with finding a balance but I know that our country is in need of a reality check..because they’re being led by the god (satan) of this world who has blinded them.
And they’re being led straight into hell for all of eternity.
And if all of the people that love God stop reaching into the brokenness because we’re told to be quiet..we’re doing exactly what satan wants.

We’re going to stand before our God one day and I know that he’ll care more about that neighbor we didn’t reach out to instead of how beautiful our homes were, or how much money we had in the bank account, or what toys we were finally able to purchase.
We have to be willing to be uncomfortable for Christ to be with those in pain who need to be loved, even when they don’t realize it.

I pray that tonight you’ll discover what that means in your day to day life.
Lets finish the race well and not come home to heaven already comfortable.
He has promised our comfort is with Him and that we have a place in heaven full of rest.
So run this race hard and make every day worth it because we’re not guaranteed a week from now.
