It’s snowing lightly over here and we’re sitting back enjoying it from the warmth of a home!
It’s the perfect writing weather and I can’t wait to share my eventful evening with you but a warning first..

When I dreamed of motherhood it never included a handful of a child’s throw-up.
I don’t know why this happens because it’s really sort of, no it’s gross. REALLY gross and I looked up to Darren and smiled and said, ‘This is gross, why did I do that?’ My other hand reached for his back to rub and Darren went into super-dad mode. He is an amazing father if I’ve not mentioned that before.
My expectations for a perfect motherhood experience faded long ago when I embraced this role God called me to was going to be nothing like I imagined. I’m still amazed by the things a mother finds herself doing for her children. All these moments, the great and the gross will hopefully teach my son how loved he is. Not only by me, but by Christ too. I want to show Garrett the love of God daily.

In the morning we woke up to more mess and it was helpful to have extra hands to clean things up.
By mid-morning I was worn out and picked up a little sickness but by the afternoon I was feeling a lot better!
Here is Garrett and I snuggling this morning. He gives the best snuggles when He’s willing to sit still! {Which is not that often!}
Moving on from the sick-talk… I had the most delicious cup of coffee yesterday! The flavor was, Café Mocha and it was amazing. My love for coffee has increased!
Yesterday afternoon Darren and I were able to get away for a few hours to see a movie. It was wonderful to enjoy some popcorn and coke with my man. We saw, ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ and it was really good. I love Mary Poppins and found the author’s story interesting.
We are ringing in the New Year tonight, and even though this is not a Top 10 best moments of 2013, I’d like to say this has been a good year. God blessed our family and we’re grateful!

I have many top moments of the year, but my favorite occurred just a few weeks ago. Michael (your classmate!) completed his college education! Yep, that young man who wasn’t all that certain at the beginning, put his nose to the grindstone far more than most students have to do, and he finished! He is now officially a graduate of IUSB! To say I’m proud of Mike doesn’t adequately express how happy I am that he met his goal, and has something no one can take away from him. And the joy will continue into 2014, when Kimberly will complete HER college education in May, followed by Mike’s girlfriend Courtney, in December!
After that, things get fuzzy…hard to choose…LOL! I became a member of Zion United Church of Christ in October, after “visiting” for a year. In that time I joined the choir and eventually became co-director for a bit. I do direct the handbell choir when we can get together, but we have some parts that need to be replaced before we get things back up and running again. But I do love this church, I love its statement of acceptance, I love that each and every Sunday, Pastor Wendy welcomes the congregation with, “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.” And I love that this church understands good works begin at the end of service and never end. I love that this church works outside itself. I love that this is a “Just Peace” church. And I love that the one thing that UCC says consistently, “God is still speaking,” is ended with a COMMA — never a period. I do love this church, and I love that there are several in the surrounding area who connect up often and where some of my closest friends attend regularly as well — and that there is never competition.
I look very much forward to a better 2014. My hope and prayer is that many who have been left behind are going to be brought forward.

I can’t think of only one. I have three. 1…Anthony baptizing his son, 2…Evan and Ali’s wedding, 3…Jonathan and Karen’s wedding. Now, I am waiting for more great grand children. Oh, 4…getting together with the whole family.
