Rest in Him

Here, for you! :)
Because good friends like us deserve a cup of coffee together.

Maybe you have read the same book five times today to a sweet toddler and need adult conversation too?
Its a good thing they’re so cute!

I was wide awake at 5 am this morning laying in bed thinking about the future.
I was calculating the amount of time Darren would be here compared to being away and I froze.
The reality of him leaving soon hit me like a ton of bricks.
I wanted to pull the covers over my head and pretend that the looming deployment was still very far off but I know how time flies.

I was tempted to fill the heart with worry.  The details threatened to steal every ounce of peace in my heart;

Where will we move to?
Will we stay for all the deployment?
Will christmas be here?
How will I manage the single mom status for that long????

I wanted to nudge my husband awake and demand answers so that these hands could get a hold on the future and have some say in it.
Instead I kept my eyes closed and lifted up all of the nerves and anxiousness directly to God.

He is going to take care of our family like he does yours, and we are going to be okay!
If only trusting God was easier to live out in our day-to-day lives because in theory I’ve got this ‘trusting God thing’ down.  But in reality, not so much. :)

The thing is for some of us we have very little say in our future and not being able to get our hands on OUR future is frustrating.
As much as people like to say ‘Laura you chose this lifestyle” excuse me while i am caught choking on words because truthfully, this wasn’t my choice, it was God’s choice for me.
I would have chosen something similar to my pinterest boards and squeezed my entire life into a neat box, everything arranged exactly how i’d have it. :)
just take a peek at my pinterest boards and you’ll figure me out in 5 minutes.

So here it is, you have to trust Him with your life and your future.
No matter how hard that is going to be know if you do, he’ll make the path straighter.
Has kicking and screaming ever really worked?

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Today I have no idea how i’m going to make it through the upcoming months and this next deployment but I have to believe God will provide because that’s who he is.  He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
I want the plan so i can have a say in it, i’m a bit of a control freak :) but hey through all this God is freeing me up from having to worry as he reminds how he’ll provide.

That’s his message to us and one we should cave into and REST in!

Thinking of you precious friend, you’re such a blessing to me.
:)

..and thank you for all of your sweet comments the last few days, you girls are the best!

    • Thank you grandma! :) I want to be a good example for Garrett during this deployment and I really want to follow God’s will for us. Miss you so much!

  1. It’s so tough and I can’t imagine. Deployment – you are a hero (or a heroine?).
Yes, God works in these moments and He knows your anxiousness, but goodness, it’s so much work to move one worried train of thought toward CHOOSING not to think on the negative.
Thank you for sharing your struggle and your victory.

  2. I hate deployments. There are a lot of uncertainties. But like what you said, trusting God will make the troubles go away. That verse from Proverbs is my all-time favorite. Thank you for sharing this very encouraging post.

  3. This week, my pastor went through a great trial, so he postponed a message in our series on Deuteronomy to speak on Psalm 62, how God ALONE is the one who delivers us, and the only one we must turn to for strength and comfort.
