I don’t have fancy flowing words tonight and to be honest I’m a little bummed this evening. Whenever a holiday nears and it goes by without seeing family I ache a little. I miss my family a ton and this Easter is no exception.
We have really enjoyed this new home and today as I was picking up laundry I realized how badly I wanted family to visit. How I want to have a full house with people laughing, good conversations flowing, and a chance to show off this beautiful place to loved ones.
Garrett grows more and more each day and no one that cares very much about him saying, ‘thank you mommy’ ten times a day is around to celebrate it with me. : )
It’s these little things that my friends really don’t want to hear about so I keep my mouth shut but there are times that I want the grandparents to see the new things he’s up to.
Sorry if I’m bumming you out but this is life and definitely part of being a military family. I have to say that because of the distance and less frequent trips to visit family I’ve come to appreciate everyone a lot more!
We decided to soak up this beautiful day and took a walk to the park here and had a blast with Garrett. When we came home Garrett napped and Darren and I sat on our comfy chairs outside and I read my magazine and he did sprints then sat and talked with me for awhile. It was nice to soak up the warmth and sunshine.
I especially enjoyed coloring easter eggs with Garrett this evening.
When I say with Garrett I mean him standing next to me on the chair while I did it.

Ya know, just tell your friends how your son tells you “thank you mommy” as many times as you want to tell them. You, dear girl, are a good mother, and you celebrate all those wonderful things that he does because they are important. As one who sees kids all day long who rarely say thank you, much less hold a door, I can honestly tell you that when a student says, “Good morning, Mrs. Bannister” or “Have a nice day, Mrs. Bannister” — it warms my heart. There are even several young guys who hold that door for me when I follow them out of the classroom. So brag on your son. He is growing up to be one of those good boys who will make a teacher like myself thrilled to see his excellent manners and generous heart shared with her. Trust me….it feels THAT good!
Make little video of him. I love watching what the little ones are up to when young parents share their videos online. You can get them up on FB and only share them with family, too. There’s an option when you release the video to select “Friends” or “Custom” and you can let just specific people see them. Just a thought to maybe brighten your evening.
