Fight for Perspective

p1300356

Hello Again!

I have a few posts planned for next week about our trip to Arizona, our weekend of camping, and one about the decorating I’ve done around our living room. We are having a great summer and I hope you are as well!

Blogging is a really fun hobby but I have to tell you how much the connections made through this blog have meant to me. I appreciate those of you who read, comment, pray for, and encourage me through your own stories! {Thanks for being a part of this small community}

Today I wanted to tell you about something I’m fighting over a lot lately…

Perspective.

Distractions come from every direction and even the good things can turn sour quickly!

I value my relationship with God and that’s why I get so upset with myself when there’s this sense of distance.

It was my own pulling away as a result of losing sight of Him.

It amazes me how in no time I am filling up on a t.v. show, conversation with a friend, work around the house, dwelling over a problem, or investing all my time into a hobby.

So much of the Christian walk is about discipline and that’s something that I’m not always a fan of.

An hour spent looking at pinterest is easier than the same amount of time studying the Bible.  15 minutes praying for a friend requires more thought over pulling up facebook instead.

That’s why I have to fight over and over for a fresh perspective.

I have to remember God, who He is and what He has called me here for.  With the right perspective it changes my attitude and approach to how I live.

When I have a sour perspective it looks something like this..

-With a perspective on myself, I’m easily frustrated when the world doesn’t revolve around me.

-With a perspective on the evil in the world, all seems hopeless.

-With a perspective on my husband’s short-comings, I’m irritated and become a difficult wife instead of supportive.

-With a perspective on the spiders outside our front door, I am too nervous to sit outside and miss out on a beautiful day!

Do you relate at all? :)

There are many distractions but I’m encouraged by the reminder God gives us in this verse…

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Colossians 3:2

He understands all the ways our attention will be pulled for and that’s comforting to remember!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Until next time,

Laura

    Laura-
I completely agree with you. I can even catch my self in church thinking about the day ahead or anything that distracts. I pray for my attention a lot that is for sure. I am like that dog on UP every time he sees a squirrel…… It is amazing when we focus on God what comfort that can give to us. I am about to be a stay at home mother of 2 while my husband leaves for a 5 month Army training. I am happy in some respects at the growth in Christ that I will have while he is gone. That being said it is sad. It is sad that my days are so busy now with little time to dedicate to God. I am yet a working progress and getting better daily. Thanks for all your writings on here. For a new coming Army wife and stay at home Mom I am thankful for your writings. Please know that they are so helpful.
    In Christian Love,

I definately relate as well! This world, and the way it is set up and (our minds too), make it so hard to focus on Christ and things relating to Him. But on a positive note, I am glad that He gives us nice things to enjoy like hobbies and friends. Time is always fleeting. What are we REALLY doing with it? Been
asking myself this lately. Thanks for a good reminder. I appreciate your
    presence on the internet.
