Get Moving Series! {Week One}

{Week One}

The question is which way will you go in the area of health?
We’re after freedom and a balanced lifestyle around here.

:)

Are you ready for this month’s Get moving series?
I am!

The last two weeks I’ve been testing out a few activities because I want to be real with you and if I can’t seem to actually get moving what truth is there to stand on in this series?

Each week this month you’ll find a post on saturday full of encouragement to get moving!

I really want you to communicate back and forth through this series and share what is working for you.
This is for you.

Being the mother of a toddler I’ve decided not to spend hours in a gym, or to run mile after mile.  Working out does require work but it doesn’t have to be an activity to dread.
I love to walk, and could walk for miles enjoying myself while working up a sweat.
(Take a minute to choose something)
If you want to work out to dvds, or swim, run, ride a bike, or take a brisk walk it is up to you.

This week we will have to carve out a time for ourselves to get moving.
Let the minimum be 3 times per week but the max 5/6.

In the comments please let me know what you’re thinking about doing this week and why this is important.

God has given us a gift in the ability to move and being able to use that and thank him for it turns our time spent moving into a time of worship.
There is a danger in working out and going to the other extreme of too much, but if you can remember;

Moderation in everything.

We’re chasing freedom here!
There is no freedom when we’re in bondage to exercise.

 Praying for you this week while I walk!

(Today I mowed the front and backyard, I’m settling with that while this heat is lingering today!)

~Laura~

    I will be walking! I love that you are doing this. I signed the kids up for a program called Marathon Kids and we need to get moving on it. They have a year to walk the length of a marathon (I know plenty of time). I’m hoping to start the habit of walking early, before the program actually starts in Oct. We are going walking three times this week.

      Hope, i’m with you! Walking is great. :) Thank you so much for joining in. I think its good our kids see us active and I love the idea of having the kids doing a marathon over the course of a year.

    Today marks my 4-day walk-a-thon, also known as Welcome Week for our new Freshmen on campus! I’ll be walking around, helping students move in and answering lots of questions! Best of luck to the rest of you as we get moving! :)

    I would walk more and do more if my blasted feet would cooperate. I finally went back to my favorite footwear, the Reebok DMXmax, which have air cushions in the sole to protect the parts of my foot that aren’t liking impact. I wear out a pair every 6mos when things are at a normal level. So last spring, I tried Zigtechs, and while they were okay at the beginning, the soles compressed and became damaging to my feet. DMXs here I come, and my feet are improving, day by day. Nothing is more frustrating than being a teacher who has to change classrooms every single class period, as well as stand for 2.5hr band rehearsals AND 6hrs for football games (every other week). The DMXs usually give my feet comfort on long days like that, and while my feet do hurt today, I don’t feel as uncomfortable as two weeks ago.

    I’m working for improvement. My goal is to be walking fairly normal and regularly in another 2 weeks. I want to lose 20# by Dec. 31st, with an intentional effort to lose another 20# by June 1st. Getting my weight into a manageable range will make my feeties happier. (Probably the rest of me happier, too, except….maybe my wallet….LOL!) :-)

    On the upside, my kids (aka “students”) are pretty much potty trained. LOL

    Hey Laura, this is such an awesome idea that you came up with! On Monday (Labor day) my mom and I will be partaking in the 55th annual walk across the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw city, Michigan. It is a 5 mile span and we are both super excited. Can’t wait to read next week’s!
